Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know when repairs are completed?

We will contact you by phone when your vehicle is ready. Please call us at 262-538-1319 if you have any questions during the repair process.

What is a Vehicle Scan and why is it important?

Today’s cars use numerous electronic systems to make them safer and easier to use, but that also makes repairs more complicated. Even a minor collision can damage wiring and change the position of sensors, requiring additional repairs and re-calibration to get everything working again. Our staff has the latest tools and training to scan, diagnose and remedy problems with these electrical systems throughout the repair process. This lets us find problems before work begins to get an accurate repair estimate, ensure electronic systems are working correctly after the repair, and get everything from airbag sensors to door closing mechanisms calibrated to factory specifications so your car is as safe and easy to use as it was before the accident.

Do you perform restoration and rust repairs on vehicles?

Yes, we do restoration work. Please note: we only do the body repair and refinishing portion of a restoration and do not do any assembly or disassembly. Restoration or custom work is billed at a higher hourly rate than collision repairs and is not done during peak production times.

Do you only paint vehicles?

No. We are willing to refinish other items. Please consider that our refinishing process may not be the most cost effective option and this work is not done during peak production times.

Who do I pay my deductible to?

Your deductible is paid to Merton Auto Body when your vehicle is completed.

What types of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, personal checks, cashier’s checks. You can also pay with VISA, Mastercard, or Discover.

A 4% fee applies to all credit card transactions

Can my deductible be buried?

No. When you purchased your insurance policy, you signed a contract indicating you will pay the first portion of your claim up to your deductible amount. Burying a deductible constitutes insurance fraud by the shop and consumer. Additionally, a shop willing to bury your deductible has to short-cut the repairs, resulting in lesser quality auto body repairs. This may negatively impact your vehicle’s value.

Will the new paint match my existing paint?

Yes. Our certified refinishers mix all formulas in our state-of-the-art mix room, thanks to the Spies Hecker paint system. Our refinishers are highly skilled in base coat, clear coat, and three-stage pearl finish matching.

Will Merton Auto Body set up a rental car?

For your convenience, we can provide a contact for a rental car company that will arrange to bring a rental vehicle to our facility at the time of drop-off.   That vehicle can then be left at our facility at the time your vehicle is completed and they will pick it up here.

Are the repairs guaranteed?

Yes. Merton Auto Body offers a lifetime warranty on all repairs done in house, thanks to our Spies Hecker paint system.

What if my vehicle isn't drivable?

Contact us at 262-538-1319, and we will arrange to have your vehicle towed to our facility for auto body repair.

Are appointments required for car repair estimates?

No. Simply bring your vehicle in during normal business hours (Monday – Friday 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) and one of our skilled estimators will create a free, detailed estimate for you within 15 minutes.

Do I need to get more than one estimate?

No. It is your right to have repairs to your vehicle done at your auto body shop of choice. Merton Auto Body works closely with all insurance companies. With our cutting edge damage assessors and certified collision repair technicians, your car will be restored to pre-accident condition.

Car Repair Facts You Should Know

You are not required to get more than one car repair estimate for your insurance provider. One estimate will suffice.

If you have Hail Damage:

Hail estimates take longer than collision estimates. If you have an estimate prepared by your insurance company, we do not need to complete an additional estimate. Please email a copy of the estimate and we will schedule you for repairs.

You are allowed to choose the auto repair shop of your choice. You are under no obligation to a collision center chosen by your insurance carrier.

You are required by your policy to give your carrier a reasonable amount of time to inspect the damages to your car prior to having it repaired.

Only the owner of the car can approve repairs on the vehicle.

Car repair estimates will vary, depending on the damage. A lower estimate doesn’t mean you’re saving money on the same amount of auto repairs, and may mean some repairs don’t get addressed. It’s your vehicle, so make sure it’s repaired to your complete satisfaction.

Your insurance carrier wants your car suitably repaired and wants you to be fully satisfied with their claim service. Review your insurance policy for your rights and obligations.

Merton Auto Body is ready to provide full assistance in any of these matters. We work carefully with every customer to decrease inconvenience and increase fulfillment.
